Toxicological properties of organic peroxide

Independent of their general properties, individual organic peroxides may also have additional toxicological properties, which can show great differences. The degree of toxicity depends on the organic peroxide in question. The main routes of absorption are by inhalation (even though the vapor pressures of most organic peroxides are low) or dermal contact. But oral absorption by swallowing may also be possible.

Information on the health hazards of individual organic peroxides can be found in the safety data sheets of the respective manufacturers. Additional information can also be obtained from databases such as the ECHA's registered substances page.
